DfiniD Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to Dolphin population research in the Golden Isles of Georgia. Based out of Jekyll Island, Georgia, DfiniD focuses its research on the waters surrounding Jekyll Island, including Jekyll Creek and the northern side of St. Andrews Sound. The organization employs advanced fin recognition software to analyze on-site photography of the dolphin population over time.
Our dolphin population research involves photographing Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins and utilizing fin recognition software to implement advanced routines for identifying each individual dolphin. We maintain an ongoing database that matches each photograph to dolphins recorded in the system. Over time, this research will enable us to generate incredibly useful and specific data about the dolphin population around Jekyll Island.
